PeopleMetrics Presents Findings at World-Class Change/Employee Engagement Summit

New York, November 9, 2006 –   PeopleMetrics CEO and Founder Dr. Sean McDade in partnership with Edelman Change and Employee Engagement, co-presented the preliminary findings of a third annual study "New Frontiers in Employee Communications," at Edelman's first annual "Best Practices in Change/Internal Communications" Summit on November 8 and 9 in New York City. The purpose of the annual study is to examine the use and effectiveness of communications channels as "new media" technologies, including wikis, blogs and podcasts, become more popular in organizations. More than 75 Fortune 500 companies participated in the study.

 

"This Summit is a wonderful opportunity to share our study findings and to explore ways we can help Fortune 500 companies and leading organizations understand and use new media to improve their internal communications effectiveness and employee engagement strategies," noted Dr. McDade, "to work with a great partner like Edelman in investigating the potential new media have for corporate communicators is very exciting."

 

The two-day conference attendees included internal communications executives from a variety of industry-leading organizations, including Bank of America, Disney, Dell, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, Nissan, Starbucks and Wal-Mart, among others.

 

The 2006 study found far greater use of new media technologies compared to 2004, the year Edelman published its first annual benchmark study. The study also found many companies are hesitant to adopt new media technologies and often misunderstand the obstacles to implementation.
